Golf Estate Golf Courses have become common place in South Africa and sometimes know as golf security villages the reason for this being that the Golf Estate will have 24hour security and strict access control. One of the charateristics of a Golf Estate Course is that the houses will be integrated into the course and sometimes this may give the golfer the impression that the course is tighter than it actually is.
Links Golf Courses are sometimes referred to as a seaside links's, and they are the oldest style of golf course, first developed in Scotland. The word comes from the Scots Language and refers to an area of coastal sand dunes, and sometimes to open parkland.
